I had the luck to meet with Sowon both days she spent in Hungary, first day out of luck and second day because a Hungarian hallyu organization I work with managed to settle a mini-interview with her for our online magazine, and even if it has been almost a month ago, I still can't believe it happened. The first day I woke up to see her instagram post from a restauran in my city, and I nearly ran to the city so I could at least tell "Gfriend fighting" to her or something like that, because I was sure she would love to know they are loved even in such a small Eastern European country like mine is, but for hours I had no luck even though I went to every single place I thought they would include in a traveling show. (And the weather was really bad, we had a really strong wind that day.) But just when I was about to get home, Sowon posted another photo from a boat and I went to the Danube bank to at least try to guess where could she be. But lol, I accidentally ended up choosing to go down to the river the same street she happened to be at. She was at a restaurant and I almost tripped over my own feet when I realized it's her. I didn't go there though, not wanting to disturb her while having dinner and it turned out as a wise decision because after a while they started recording her eating. After they finished and started leaving, me and my friend (who got there a bit later than I did) gained all our courage to approach her just to tell her we love them, and she was so adorable, she instantly pointed at my phone (I was clutching onto it because it didn't fit in my pocket lol) like "selca? selca?" and ngl we both were lowkey dying there. After we took the photo we told her 'thank you' in Korean and she called us 'cute girls' in English. I'm still not recovered from that. As for the second day, I had to bury the fan deep inside and take out my professional side and I was sucessful more or less lol. We (me and a friend who also works for that organization) knew both the place and the time and we went there just then.... but they were like two hours late. (Thank god I had the number of the translator guy who kept updating us.) But in the end they showed up and Sowon was just as breathtaking as the day before. If not more. AND SHE REMEMBERED ME FROM THE DAY BEFORE. :") But we were mostly sticking to the translator guy the whole time not wanting to disturb the shooting the slightest bit when they came up with the idea of THEM recording the interview we were supposed to do with Sowon (??? I still don't understand why and we never got the actual footage so I will have to find a way to get it if it's not going to be put on the show) so... we ended up doing it like that. We managed to surprise Sowon with asking her questions in Korean lol after we finished she was all "Did you learn Korean????" and then she asked us if we liked k-pop and Gfriend. (I don't think I've ever nodded so enthusiastically in my life before.) And after that she wanted to take a 'thumbs up' photo with us, where I was lowkey dying because I connect that to Umji and I'm just really weak for Umji. But I managed to keep my #Professional side through the whole time. (Well... until we got far enough for them to not see or hear us anymore.) After watching the first episode of Gfriend Loves Europe and seeing how worried Sowon was about coming here alone I hope we at least managed to feel loved or something like that. ;; And I'm a bit bummed Umji wasn't able to participate in the shooting because I was planning on making a sign like "UMJI YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL" for her because I wanted her to know how much I love her, but I'm not complaining at all. ^^ I'm sure one day I'll get to tell that to her.
